In more recent years, there have heen the most significant changes: After the death of Mr. Blakely, on Qcto- her 2o, 1925, Mr. Norr, who had heen administrative assistant, succeeded as principai. Realizing that the former main huitding had outgrown the conditions of the times, Mr. Norr made ptans for a new main huiid- ing on Gun Hitt Road. Dr. Hymen Atpern, formerly head of the Spanish Department at De Witt Clinton, hecame the third prin- cipal of Evander Childs in the tau of 1954. Une of his earliest acts was to secure the re-naming of the Wood- lawn Annex, as the Henry I. Norr Annex, in memory of the man who had so adrnirahty sustained the Fine traditions of the earliest years of our schooi. . Dr. Atpern has launched many innovations in Evander hte, among them the Honor School, under Dr. Miles, and the institute of Adult Education, now under Dr. Silver. Evander has had a glowing history and has attained an enviahie piace for herself in the educationai world.
