We sincerely hope ThaT iT will be warmly received and appreciaTed. The Theme of This Oriole is Geography, wiTh all iTs applicaTions and implicaTions, and The knocks and boosTs were suggesTed largely by geographical Terms and daTa. The Topic, we believe, is appropriaTe To The Trend oT The Times when space and physical barriers have been so reduced as To make all The world a close TraTerniTy. The TuTure will see our class scaTTered over The Tace of The globe. We will be The Torerunners of any social and poliTical change. As we graduaTe, inTernaTionalism is The Topic of The day. CounTries and people ThaT were once only names in dusTy books are now The drama'l'ic geography oT The daily news. lndeed Geography is noT alone The Theme of The Oriole, buT The key To Tomorrow! Soon, Evander Childs will be a happy memory ne'er To be TorgoTTen, and Though Time may dull Treasured memories we hope our Oriole will sweep away Time's cobwebs and will recall a-new our TondesT years. In bringing you This Year Book, The Oriole STaTT has endeavored To make iT mosT represenTaTive of The spiriT of our class, namely good Tellow-ship. Years hence, The picTures of classmaTes will bring To mind The many Triendships you made and The scenes oT school acTiviTies will help you To live once more Through cherished school days. ln The Wake will recall To you The ioyous Times we experienced TogeTher. ThoughTs of our Senior dances and our promenades will TloaT back To us. From The Crows NesT unfolds To you The TuTure, and only Time can Tell wheTher our nonsensical prophesies shall perchance come True. Be assured, ThaT The lessons we have learned here aT Evander have been puT To pracTical use in This Oriole. lT is as perTecT as we could possibly make iT. ln aTTribuTing a knock or boosT To each member oT The class The Oriole STQFT gave Them in good sporTsmanship and True Trankness. We only hope ThaT you will receive your commenT in The same spiriT. We ask your indulgence on This poinT: ThaT you realize They are buT opinions and conse- quenfly are noT infallible. Our social life, foo, broughf laughs and ioys fo be cherished forever. A Hallowe'en dance was held in fhe real pumpkin manner, wifh pranks and iokes pracfisecl by all on all. The week of Novem- ber 4fh wifnessed inflafed Senior chesfs land headsl walking fhrough Evander hallways. The cause, nafurally, was our Senior hafs . . . Quife a differenf afmosphere was nofed around fhe school af fhis fime wifh many Freshmen running for cover. December opened upon one of fhe maior evenfs in fhe hisfory of fhe class-Senior Week- during which was presenfed The Warrior's Husband, wifh Frances Keifel, Theresa Scafidi, Henry Gosch, Bernard Rosenfeld, Richard Birnberg, Emma Goldfarb, and Sam Rubensfein as fhe chief sfalwarfs of enferfainmenf. Our achievemenfs did nof cease here. The following day fhe Frolic Day dance was given in fhe Girls' large gym. lmmediafely following fhe mid-ferms fhe Prom was held af fhe Rifz Carlfon. Mac Pollack and his orchesfra supplied syncopafed rhyfhm for fhe formally garbed Seniors and Seniorifas. This gala evenf fifly climaxed fhe social calendar of fhe class of January I937. ln fhe wake of fhese brighf days we graduafe info fhe new beyond. A richer, and more mafure planf has been fhe ulfimafe resulf of fhis enfire day of confinual sunshine -a composife symbol represenfing four years of menfal and spirifual formafion in fhe Evander mold.
