Homecoming 197 8-7 9 u The 1978-79 Homecoming festivities started with the choosing of the candidates. The theme chosen for this years Homecoming was Songs. The Seniors had to start earlier and work harder because the Royalty float was used in the Coronation Ceremonies held on Thursday night at the football field. This new idea Eroved to be successful, especially ecause the band was able to perform it's half-time show. Following the band performance was the introduction of the candidates by lVlaster of Ceremonies lVlike Schock and lVlistress of Ceremonies Karla Gross. After the coronation of the new King and Queen a song dedicated to them was sung by Linda Opp. Once again Coach Hermnsen added to the program by reading a poem. The Ceriemonies came to a close with a pep ra y. T Friday turned out to be a perfect day for the parade. The Sophomore class an the lndustrial Arts took first honors in the two divisions. The Homecoming festivities Homecoming King and Queen 1978-79, Doug Nlehlhaff and Tammy Kxary. came to a close with a footballdgame between the Eureka Trojans an the Leola Pirates in which the Pirates emerged victorious. The composition of a first place float. Karla and Nlike welcome the new King, Doug Nlahlhaff.

Homecoming Royalty were David Mehlhaff, Mark Lapp. Pages were Kelly Stugelmayer and Debra Opp, Steve Krein, King Doug Nlehlhaff, Queen Heier. Tammy Kary, Mary Libis, Kim Kary, and Jeri The cold didn't prevent Linda Opp Throwing candy, an important job to the candidates. from singing beautifuny at Coronation.
