11 Man Football Takes Last Stand With experience on their side, the 1978 football team had the potential to produce a very successful season. The squad consisting of 10 seniors and 17 underclassmen were led by captains lVlike Schock, David lVlehlhaff, and Drake Kary. Due to unknown reasons the team got off to a shaky start losing the first four games, but the teams determination to win won them the last 4 of 5 and left them with a season record of 4-5 and second place in the conference race. Coach Hermansen compared the squad to a race car, stating that the team was a winning'-car, but it just wasn't tuned-up right away. o end the season 9-man football was introduced with a game against Bowdle where the Trojans prevailed.
