if DEDICATION In recognition of their total of 117 years of loyal service to E.H.S. and its students, we of the Sequoia Staff wish to dedicate the 1955 Sequoia to four people who will no longer be with us after this year. After twenty-six years at E.H.S., twelve of them as principal, MR. GLENN GUTHRIE is retiring this year to enter the business field. MR. GUTHRIE will long be remembered for his geniality, his fairness, and his work in behalf of all of us. He will be missed by all, and we wish him the best of every- thing in the future. For thirty-five years as a teacher of physics, chemistry, math, and science, MR. GEORGE MORGAN has been outstanding. Before coming to E.H.S. he taught in Nevada, and Berkeley, Q, California. MR. MORGAN has a wonderful hobby A in lapidary, at which he will be able to spend much more time after this year. What would a school be like without some- one to keep the rooms, halls, and staircases clean? MR. GORDON BROWN, or BROWNIE as he is known to everyone, has been the iacnk- of-all-trades at E.H.S. since July, 1935. Students will miss his cheerful help. He plans to do lots of fishing and hunting now in' his spare time. After forty years of teaching, thirty-six years of which she served on the E.H.S. faculty, MRS. EMILY JACOBS resigned in August. ln addition to teaching, she served as advisor to the senior class, and the local chapter of the California Scholarship Confed- eration and other school clubs. Before ioining the E.H.S. staff in 1918 as a Latin teacher, MRS. JACOBS taught in the Sacramento Valley for four years.

THROUGH THESE PAGES YOU WILL SEE Drama students discover that acting isn't the only thing the Drama class does. Sets must be prepared, which means old paint must be washed off in preparation for the painting of new scenery. Engaged in this task here are, left to right: Dean Cleveland, Karen Wilkenson, Ray Dellabalma, Brian Buster, and Pauline Summers. At an A Cappella practice session, the girls sing the melody as the boys hum. This group is led by Mr. Tom Hibdon and presented the annual Christmas Concert and sang at at other school events. Catering to the sweet tooth were the band members who sold sweet stuff at their candy counter every lunch period. We see Charles Lyons and an unidenti- tied girl buying candy from Tom Brad- ford and Judy Hudson.
