Balloons and The 1987 Basketball Homecoming was a big night for all participants. The halftime activities began with the entrance of Freshmen Shaun Lester and Celina Montanez. Meeting next in the center of the gym were Sophomores Shane Overton and Doreen Montanez. Then, Shay Boatman presented Kristin Worley with her rose as the Juniors were recognized. Senior couples who vied for the top honors were Matt Robinson and Susanne Sack, followed by Eric Maddan and Kim Cox. There was a hush in the crowd as the king and queen were announced — Eric and Kim! They walked to the center of the court where he presented her with a bouquet of red roses, a necklace, the crown, and the traditional kiss. The night ended well as both girls’ and boys’ varsity teams defeated Lake Arthur. Remember Latoya Sims escorted by Rodney Lord. Being junior attendant seemed to make Sara Coulter very nervous, as well as her escort Chris Lyle. But waiting calmly was the senior attendant, Angela Allen, who was met by John Lane at the center of the stage. When it was announced that the junior class had won, Chris presented Sara with flowers, a necklace and crown, and then the traditional kiss.
