Promenade Leslie Rodgers Because money was scarce and Ferraris were expensive, the 1986 Homecoming Royal Court arrived in open-air, easy-riding golf carts. The first attendant to be driven onto the green was Leslie Rodgers. She was assisted out of the cart by Scott Mitchell, and they proceeded through the Homecoming Promenade. They were followed by the sophomore attendants. Dawn Dobbs and Jimmy Benham. As Dawn received her rose, the juniors appeared on the scene. Brandon Robbins greeted Tracey Clements and they gracefully made their way to the arch. Lisa Coy, the first senior candidate for queen, made her entrance onto the field where she was met by her escort Gary Laing. Completing the court was the second senior candidate, Le’Ann Lord, escorted by Matt Robinson. As they walked to the arch the crowd waited in anticipation for the big announcement: the 1986 Homecoming Queen was Lisa Coy with Gary Laing at her side making the formal presentations. After the Homecoming traditions were carried out, the 1986 Homecoming Royal Court left the field with cameras flashing in their eyes. Remember Latoya Sims escorted by Rodney Lord. Being junior attendant seemed to make Sara Coulter very nervous, as well as her escort Chris Lyle. But waiting calmly was the senior attendant, Angela Allen, who was met by John Lane at the center of the stage. When it was announced that the junior class had won, Chris presented Sara with flowers, a necklace and crown, and then the traditional kiss. It was a night to remember, and the Halloween carnival was once again a success. Sophomores — Rodney Lord and Latoya Sims
