Dean Mickelwoit Perhaps the most difficult job in a high school of eighty-five teachers and nearly two thousand students is that of its presiding officers, the prin- cipal. Our principal, Mr. Mickelwait, seems to find time to perform all of the necessary operations that make Eugene High run smoothly, plus extra ones that make it better than most high schools. His main job is super- vising the entire school program. He advises all policy-making groups, coordinates all the school's activities, and presides over the administrative council. Mr. Mickelwait must attend all types of meetings, conferences, and conventions to find out the new- est ideas and methods of directing a high school. Even with all these re- sponsibilities, Mr. Mickelwait seems to find time to help the students in his friendly and sincere manner. To successfully achieve our goals, we must have an understanding and cooperative administration to guide us. We are extremely fortunate to be able to have as the head of our ad- ministration, a man who will guide us competently through our high school years. This is our principal, Mr. Mickelwait. Mr. Mickelwait received his Master of Arts degree from the University of Washington. Nina Kitts One important and very necessary member of our administration is our dean of girls, Miss Kitts. Being a dean requires much time and hard work, it also takes an enthusiastic and under- standing person to Work with the girls. Miss Kitts easily fits all of these quali- fications. Miss Kitts keeps busy all of the time, either Working directly with the girls or on records. When counseling the girls, she helps mainly senior girls, but our dean is also always willing to give her time and energy to the juniors and sophomores. For the Seniors, Miss Kitts handles the scholarship and pre-college counseling programs I Besides counseling girls, MiSS Kitts is in charge of the school calendar and the scheduling of all social events here at school. Our conscientious d e a n de- serves much praise. Miss Kitts received her Masters degree in educa- tion from the University of Oregon. I2

Ray Hendrickson As vice principal of Eugene High, Mr. Hendrickson works with both stu- dents and teachers. Attendance prob- lems and statistics are handled by Mr. Hendrickson, as are the major phases of student-faculty relations. Our vice principal is greatly con- cerned with activities, too. Upon the completion of the new high school in Eugene, Mr. Hendrick- son will take over the responsibilities of principal. Becoming principal of the high school is a deserved ad- vancement tor one with his capabili- ties. Most students and faculty mem- bers agree that with the guidance of such a man as our Mr. Hendrickson, the new school cannot be anything other than a success. To our earnest and likeable vice principal we wish the best of luck! Mr. Hendrickson received his Mas- ter of Science degree from the Univer- sity ot Oregon. Paul Potter It is easy to see that our dean c qoys, Mr. Potter, enjoys his work wit the boys of our school. He is interestei in all of our students, which can b seen by the immense amount of sup port he has given the student body. One of our dean's jobs is directin the student personnel program. -A dean of boys, Mr. Potter spends th largest part of his time counseling th senior boys. However, junior and soplf omore boys are also always welcom in his of'ice. Our dean is in charge c the testing and guidanc programs and all schoc records. Mr. Potter ha done a fine job as our dea of boys this year, as he ho in the past, and he cel tainly deserves our sincer thanks. Mr. Potter received hi Masters degree in educc tion from the University c Oregon. I3
