Page4 THE IRONHEAD May 18, 1931 Class History Now the history of the class of One and Thirty, of the high school of the city of Eufaula, County of McIntosh in the state of Oklaho- ma. is in this wise: In the beginning in the six and twentieth year of our Lord in the ninth month and on the tenth day of the month there entered into this land of learning one and forty seekers of knowledge Some came up from the eighth grade wnere they had for many months been busily engaged in storing up in their minds the honey of wis dom some were from farms where they had been tillers of the soil and some were from other halls of instruction Lkewise it came to pass also that they were received with mah c ous glee by a certain band of wild beings called Sophomores and who did because of their fierce taste for Freshman blood pounce upon them daily and nightly and did cause them to suffer great things and to yearn in their heart for the day when they should themselves be Sophomores And it came to pass that they did organize themselves and select a strong and wise woman to lead them through the wilderness It is recorded that they did clfoose Nan Westmoreland as their lead er and Helen Smock to pres de over them and to advise them lest they ll should fall by the way. are to graduate after many days, F I 1 v I Chapter Two Now it came to pass at the be- ginning of the second year that a new band of youths did com- u1 irom the adjoining territory and the class of seven and twenty in the new dignity of their promo- tion remembered the days of their own greenness and as the Sopho mores of their day had done to them even so did trey do unto these new Freshmen did show I10 m rcy unto their sufferings and no heed unto their lameatations until they were all bru sed anc' full of sorrow And it came to pass that a great and wise per on dd advis them to organize themselves that their courage should be bolstered and that they should fear not And as spoke uito them so was t done and they chose their wisest ones to be leaders and it came to pass that Ann Connors was chosen president and Almon White their ponsor and called themselv es with much pride the class of seven and twenty and it came to pass at the end of the se ond year that their whol number was forty and two 1-fn 23' 022 F' o 002222 gm :mis -5? cr ggfj o.L U E' O: :Aug HUQNH D ' 'Oo 301:-2 L, as We-agp? And so thinking these things I he class made many a feast and I the public was bidden that money might soon be brought into the treasury ard it came to pass that the Junior class had in it a presi dent Helen Smock and a sponsor Martha Gaby both persons of much learning and many accomplish ments Helen having gained great hono on having been exposed for several sea, on to the disease known as basketball And behold it likewise come to pass at about the same time that the class did aspire to histronic honors and did present to the people a great and wonderful play Come Qeven was once more given that the religious soul of the aud iente might be grateful And lo the multitude did cry out How great and wonderful is this thing that you have done and the heads of the class did become swelled to 'their fullest extent at the praise ,they did receive and the terrible 'tri g that they had done Now it came to pass that Earl Cook a youngster who was yet a worthy member of the class did as plre to fly as a brd and did take unto himself a pole of great length and soar over a cane placed upon two uprights to the height of ten I X N WOLFERT S The Friendl Store feet and ten inches, a mark of such surpassing loftiness that it has never been surpassed in that great religion known as the N.
