This school was initiated under the leadership and direction of C. E. Foley and was named Dixie School. It consisted of 37 students and two teachers. At one time, it housed grades one through eight, then grades one through six, and presently, houses Kindergarten through second grade. At various times, this building has been abandoned by the schools. It was used at one time to house the Mclntosh County jail and during later years, it housed the Mclntosh County Health Department. Oven the years, the building has been renovated and added to and presently is being used as Dixie Elementary School. 6
