Thompson. Colonel Thompson is statesman, politician, soldier, business man, traveler,-lending his great mind often in the service of his country. Some of the notable public positions he has attained are Treasurer of the United States, Secretary to President Taft, member of the House of Representatives, and Special Commis- sioner to make a survey of the economical and internal conditions of the Philippines. five
