Departed from Etowah High at 7:00 a.m. by Continental Trailways bus. Spent IV: hours in Atlanta, Ga. for bus check-up. Ate box lunch in Gainesville, Ga. Arrived in Charlotte N.C. about 9:00 p.m. Ate dinner and hotel accommodations had been made for us in Hotel Charlotte. Our first evening was free in downtown Charlotte. Sunday, March 23... Ate breakfast at 7:00 a.m. Left Charlotte at 8:00 a.m. Arrived in Greenville at I0:45 a.m. fm Q short rest stop. Arrived in Danville, Vir ginia at Il:30 a.m. Ate lunch in the Hotel Danville. Left Danville at l2:3O p.m. Stopped in Richmond, Virginia at 3:45 p.m. lor an afternoon rest stop. We arrived in Washington D.C. at 6:30 p.m. Hotel accommodations had been made for us in the Hotel Houston. After dinner, our first evening was free in downtown Washington. Monday, March 24... Ate Breakfast at our hotel. Began our si htseeing tour at 9:00 a.m. We climbed Washington Monument, visited Smithersonian Institution- there we saw the Grapic Arts Exhibit, NaturaFHistory Building, where we saw the Roosevelt collection of wild animals, Indian groups, gems and extinct monsters, Arts and Industries Building which contained Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis and the Wright brothers' ' Kitty Hawk and the many replicas of train, boats, carts, wagons and carriages used in U.S. History. We sow the famous group of plaster figures dis- playing the original gowns worn by the President's wives. Toured the Bureau of Printing and Engraving and saw the printing and engraving of government bonds, currency notes, and stamps. Crossed the Potomac River into Arlington National Cemetry--visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and saw the changing ofthe Guard and the Marines statue ofthe raising of the flag on Iwo Jima, then we visited the Cus- tis-Lee Mansion fRobert E. Lee homel. Saw the Pentagon Building, then went to Christ's Church, which was the church ol George Washing- ton and Robert E. Lee and we sat in their pews. Toured Mount Vernon, Home of Washington and inspected the buildings, grounds and tomb. Visited the Jefferson Memorial and Lincoln Memorial. Returned to Hotel and then we went to the Lotus Club for dinner and a floor show. uesda , March T Firzt we wenfsto the White House, the president's home, where we visited the East Room, State Dining Room, Red Room, Blue Room, and Green Room ofthe executive mansion. Then to the Supreme Court Building, Library of Congress and toured the United States Capitol. Pass- ed the many foreign embassies and Iegations on way to the Cathedral of the Saints, Peter and Paul. After lunch we departed forthe scenic drive over the New Jersey Turnpike into New York City, Spent the night at Bristol Hotel, in the heart of New York City. Wednesday, March 26... I l A A Our Commercial Sightseeing Bus, with guide, called for us after breakfast and we began our all-day tour of New York City, visiting the Empire State Building, N.B.C. Television-Radio center, Little Church Around the Corner, Downtown, Chinatown, Uptown, Harlem, Central Park, the Cathedral of St. John, The Devine, Rockefeller Center, Carne ie Mansion, George Washington Bridge, the United Nations Building, Madison Square Garden, took the boat to Liberty Island to see Statue a?Liberty, climbed the steps to the very finger tips. That night went to Radio Music Hall. Thursday, March 27... I Q I Left New York. Ate lunch in Washington. In afternoon visited Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson in Charlatteville, Arrived at Natural Bridge that ninht in time to see the Drama of Creation. Spent night in Natural Bridge Hotel. Friday, March 28... Departed from Natural Bridge for a scenic drive through Virginia and Tennessee ....... Arrived home around l'I:30.
