SENIOR CLASS POEM By NELIA LEDBETTER, Poet AU REVOIR When the last lesson is finished, And the scroll has been written and dried, We will say au revoir to our classmates And set out on life’s sea rough and wide. And those who are brave will go forward To fight lfe’s battles, and attain, They ’ll strive and never turn backward Till the coveted prize they gain. We will have real lessons to master, And oft’ there’ll be failures to meet, But those who have courage will flinch not— Tis the coward who whimpers, “I’m beat”. So now at the hour of departing, At this, another commencement day, Grieve not that our school days are over, Or for chances we let slp away. For those opportunities are vanished, Life will bring chances anew; Turn then from our mistakes, dear classmates, Kach new day brings a new work to do. Then au revoir, teachers and classmates; Bid us God speed on our way. . We’ll push on and never turn backward, We'll be found in the thick of the fray. Page Seven
