J Handeland G Hansen S Hood J Huntsunger N Juhl G Kung On the opening day of school in the year 1954 one hundred and thurty green freshmen entered the halls of EHS to begin theur hugh school career Thus class of 1958 was destined to become the first class to be graduated from the new Esthervulle Hugh School buuldung spending only three years un the buuldung were they began theur hugh school years These freshmen however soon lost their timidness and their feelings of strangeness and soon worked themselves into the groove of high school life. Joyce Weir, Jean Sunde, and Ben Fox were elected to lead the pack as class officers and Gary Flannery, Jean Sunde, Linda Oleson, and Carol Higgins were the stu- dent council representatives. Pat Cookinham, Jim Hunt- singer, Phyllis Rockne, and Jon Brunsvold joined the de- bate squad and a few members of the class lent their services to the PEPPER. Judy Peterson and Ruth Pullen were recruited as B-squad cheerleaders, and the class's XS- -fes- M Hassel A Heggen J Jensen J Johnson P Knight K Koenecke dramatic talent was exhibited un the One Act Plays un the fall and sprung of the year Not to be outdone by any other class a class gurls sextette was organized and was composed of Vurgunua Torreson Margaret Mester Lous Haakonson Karen Whutush Linda Oleson and Jean Sunde Many of the boys also began theur careers un hugh school athletics by partucupatung un frosh basketball football and track with George Payne gaining membership in the E-club for his accomplish- ments in track. By the time the next fall came, when the class be- came upper under-classmen as sophomores, their numbers had diminished to one hundred twelve. This year the class officers were Jean Sunde, Joyce Weir, and Karen Whitish, with the student council representa- tives as Linda Oleson, Sherie Hood, Pat Cookinham, and Joyce Weir.
