In i95i a student of Estherville High School penned these lines: A river is a funny thing Skipping by like a bird on wing, Gliding, gliding, past you and me, Gliding, gliding, down to the sea. Life's moments slip past as noiselessly as this river described by Bill Kerr. The only ties to These mo- ments are memories. People do not associate past events with dates on a calendar. The event is bound up with something that happened. Students in Estherville's high school and iunior college will associate their teen-age days with many school affairs. One memory will be, VVhen we moved into the new senior high school and college building. . . , to be followed with tales of confusion, new rooms, a cafeteria, muddy parking lot, no walks, and then how things settled into a semblance of order. Other memories will recall classmates, teachers, triumphs, failures, dreams and disappointments. Through it all will come the realization that students were not merely preparing for Life, this was Life. -Walter B.
