However, when determining your interests and abilities, planning your course of study. selecting a vocation. and picking a college. I would recommend a much broader perspective. High school and junior college students know that the field of vision is limited if the eye is not hrought close to the keyhole. In like manner the student who does not make close application to his studies or search diligently the vistas opened to him through hooks and classroom discus- sion gets not only a narrow hut blurred fperspective of opportunities for life. YVork well! Press the advantage that is yours. Today you look through the Key Hole to the future. Tornorrow you step through the doorway. The Mixed Chorus, composed of 106 members under the direction of Carl Will, devotes the first semester practicing songs for- the annual Christ- mas concert, which is broadcast over K.L.I.L. Ap- proximately 35 students took part in the tradition- al caroling done in the halls before Christmas. Starting the second semester this year, the Mix- ed Chorus was divided into two groups, each meeting on a different day. ' A The second semester is spent rehearsing songs to be presented at the Spring Concert and Music Festival. A well-known director is invited to in- troduce new ideas of music and to direct the fes- tival. A program of solos and group singing is also done for the music contest held every year. Singing at the Senior Baccalaureate and Com- mencement climaxes the year's activities. ' II 'NIOR SIfX'l'lfTTE: Linda Olsson, is lN121I'QllI'i'l Mr-stL'r. Kzxrvn YVhitish. Karon Wurrinqton. Marching band and twirlers enliven halftimes The Estherville llieh School Kfarching Band had a busy schedule this year. llany fine performances were made between halves at high school and some junior college football games, Ein, Zwei. l7rei.'i which was one of the ioutines used by the band. was a pre- cision march. The band had many clever formations in the musical version of Strolling Through the Park. One very clever one was a slide. As the band played the music which suggested a climbing motion. three twirlers ascended the slide and then ran down it to suggest people sliding down a slide. The high school homecoming was held on October 12. The band presented a routine called 'lrlomecoming Show. The band saluted the audience by forming the letters NHT and playing uHail. Hail. the Gangs all Here. XN'hile the homecoming queen and her attendants were being escorted onto the held by members of the high school football squad. the band formed a crown and saluted the queens witn a fan- fare. After the queen and her attendants were introduced to the audience. the band played 'lMelody of Love. Because the United States was preparing for the presidential election the band presented Campaign Capersf' The band divided into two groups and formed the letters D and HR . A big question mark was then formed to show people had no idea who would win. The band practiced every day before its appearances. This year five appear- ances were made. 9 ...na . -- . 90311-A - Qin' PEP BAND: Putty LnRuf', Donna llzxrkctt. Knrrn Nlhrrington. Ann Luttc-r. onnnv Frans dnl.
