The small but scrappy Rangers came in second in Willamette Valley League play with the best defensive record of any team. The loss of Bill Sinclair for most of the season and injuries to Bob Marchbank and Ron Kiggins were the stumbling blocks toward a championship. The seniors-Bob Marchbank, Nick Hayden, Stan Dmytryk, Bill Sinclair, and Del and Ron Kiggins, who were picked on the Willamette Valley League Second and Honorable Mention All-Star teams-played outstanding games throughout the season. Gary Ames, a junior, was picked unanimously on the first WVL All-Star team. The Ranger B-squad had a losing season with a three-won-and-seventeen-loss record. Freshmen dominated the squad with only two sophomores on the team. Coach Moore looks for a better season in 1955. The Rangers are still in the running for the District title at this writing. Outstanding defensive play by the team, with Del Kiggins, Bob Marchbank and Cary Ames leading the offense, has been particularly noticed. Junior Varsity First row: Jenkins, Manager, Linn, White, Prokop, Vestal, Mattson, Lynn McAllister, Fugle, Mr. Moore, Coach. Second row: Griggs, Manager, Ron Slaughter, Sagner, Ron Hare, Jerry Christenson, Looney, Shibley, Carter, Blum, Ted Slaughter.
