Teaching, laughing, listening, helping, and crying for and with us; transforming our tears into laughter and our dreams into reality. Just about every student knows Mrs. Murphy; has struggled through chemistry with her, has run cross country or played tennis with her, or has just had a friend in her. She has mended many broken hearts and listened to many “end-of-the-world” problems. And then there s Mr. Ferreira ... What would we have done without his big warm smiles, his assorted jokes and stories, and his fiery little eyes to put a bright spot in our day? What would we have done without either of them? They’ll remain in our hearts and memories forever - they're a part of us and we’re a part of them. Thanks you two, for a piece of it all! We love you. 2 3 Table Of Contents Faculty 5 Fall Sports 29 Freshmen 46 Winter Sports 68 Sophomores 85 Clubs 99 Diversified Occupations 111 Juniors 113 Seniors 161 ffcCULTY . • r Can You Recognize These Friendly Faces? 1. Missy Martinez. Dianna Hansen. (Front) Cheryl York, Diane Lamphere. The Flag Team began their second year in the fall under the direction of Mrs. Carole Stillinger. They performed at the football games during opening ceremonies and put on half time shows. A lot of time was spent practicing their routines, and even if their performance wasn't perfect, they must have improved over last year. After all, they made it in the yearbook this year. 40 41 MEET RESULTS 9 11 Essex 21. BHS 56. Montpelier 81 MMU 83 9 18 Essex 18. Colchester 55. Winooski 82. Because the Chess Club is not a formal organization, it has no officers or membership requirements. Students may play a few times a year or every day. The choice is completely their own. Each year the chess club sponsers two tournaments. Trophys are awarded in the Spring Tournament to the top three players. This spring the club hopes to form a special team that will compete with other schools in a special tournament. Math League Justin Baker. Bryan Bigelow. Peter Harroun. Mark Cyr, Scott Flaker. They don't know about the frustration and pride, the fatique and Ffei-hofers, or the hassles and good times. Maybe they should At the beginning of every school year everyone feels ready and raring as our staff begins with about twenty members. By November we are usually down to five or seven members. We 'leftovers’ sometimes consider ourselves quite insane when we think of all the hassles we go through trying to complete a yearbook with no pictures, no dinner, no workers, no money, no time, invisible advisors, inexperienced help, countless typos, hassles from students, faculty, they yearbook company, and having to redo pages five or six times each. And everyone wonders why staff members have gray hair and wrinkles and why we stumbled around groggy-eyed and grouchy! At the end of every year everyone is ready and raring to leave and our many yearbook bashes are fantastic! Our book is done except for the supplement and it looks great; we are ecstatic and full of pride as if a huge weight has been lifted of our shoulders and as the complements begin to pour in. It was worth it. .... maybe next year when you see a wrinkly, groggy-eyed and grouchy yearbook staff member you could mention what a wonderful job they're doing and watch someone suddenly become radiant. no Dll GRSIRGD OCCUPATIONS N. Everyone always told us that our highschool years would be the best years of our lives, to which we sometimes disagreed and wondered why. What made it so wonderful? Maybe it was all the friends we made. We came here freshman year with all our old buddies, scared, but excited about what awaited us. The first week we met many new people and by the end of the year had doubled our amount of friends. This cycle continued each year. We found every hurt, every problem a little less terrible bacause of friends, every accomplishment, every joy a little better because of friends. Friends .... that's who this yearbook was made for because we couldn’t have made it without them. • - i. Z -v $ ' • • - S . A ■ ' ‘ ' ' t- ♦ $%. -:■ - v. , .
