This was what 1 was like. Responding to the Norse rover-instinct, maybe, I applied to go to the United States as an exchange student. During the year I have spent in Essex Junction, 1 have never once had any reason to regret that decision. Thanks to everybody in the community, 1 have had an exciting and very rewarding and interesting year. 1 am greatly indebted to my foster family, the Howes, to the high school staff and students, to the A.F.S. chapter and to all my friends for making this an unforgettable year for me. 1 feel that when 1 leave, a little of me will remain in Essex Junction, and I will be bringing a little of Essex Junction back to Norway with me. To all of you whom I came to know, I offer my most sincere thanks and the best of wishes for the time ahead. In deep appreciation Nils Arve Aas In Memoriam Peter Hagadorn Class of 1966 Thomas Fay Class of 1969 Death, Be Not Proud Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death; nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow; And soonest our best men with thee do go— Rest of their bones and souls’ delivery! Thou’rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell; And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke. Why swell’st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die! In 1950, 27.1 % of all the drivers involved in fatal accidents were under 25 years of age. The figure increased to 32.8% in 1967. Considering that the number of licensed drivers under 25 has never exceeded 20% of the total of all licensed drivers, the record of young drivers looks particularly bad. To make their record look worse, young drivers have consistently been involved in a higher percentage of fatal accidents than non-fatal accidents. PLEASE DON'T LET IT BE YOU!! Lee S.
