The Class of 1964 Respectfully Dedicates Its Yearbook Mr. Harvey E. Perry and Mr. Bruno W. Piefke, the two remaining teachers who started at Bloomfield Tech when it opened in 1931, retired on June 30, 1964. They left behind a big gap in the hearts of their associates, but took with them the best wishes of all for many well-deserved years of health and happiness, HARVEY E. PERRY MR. HARVEY E. PERRY was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. He attended Pace Institute, studying Business Administra- tion and Accounting, then spent four years at Springfield College, majoring in Physical Edu- cation and Psychology. In 1935 he received his master's degree in School Administration from Rutgers University. Mr. Perry left distin- guished records at Springfield and Rutgers, being elected to the Honor Society at both in- stitutions. In 1946 he was listed in Who's Who in American Education”. Before coming tothe Essex County system in 1931, Mr. Perry was Physical Director at the Orange Y.M.C.A. He has always had a keen interest in service work, including scouting, Red Cross andactivities of the Y , If he heard of a job to be done, he was there to help see it through. His first ten years at Bloomfield were in Physical Education, after which he became Guidance Counsellor. Many a graduate owes a lot to Mr. Perry. Mr. Perry's plans are indefinite except that he does not desire complete retirement, and ex- pects to travel. BRUNO W, PIEFKE MR. BRUNO W, PIEFKE was born February 16, 1901, at Astoria, New York. He was edu- cated in New York City public schools, and grad- uated from Pratt Institute in 1920. He, later, attended Rutgers University. Mr. Piefke served his apprenticeship in the machine tool and instrument fields, and worked at his profession for forty-eight years, the last thirty-five being as instructor of Machine Shop and Manufacturing Techniques in the Essex County system. Noted for his thoroughness of instruction and understanding of teen-agers, his pupils re- ceived many awards at machine tool trade ex- hibits. In spite of a heavy teaching schedule, Mr. Piefke also found time for service work, He was affiliated with the National Athletic Trainers' Association, an instructor trainer for the American Red Cross, anda director of National Boy Scout summer camps. A member of the U.S. Power Squadron, his major recreation is boating and fishing, which he will enjoy from his home beside the bay at Beach Haven, New Jersey.
