JOHN BAMBARA Mr. John Bambara, instructor in the Tool and Die Shop at Bloomfield Tech for twenty one years, passed away on November 3, 1963. He began his teaching career on July 15, 1940, as a part-time evening instructor in the War Training Program, and progressed to a full teaching appointment at Bloomfield Tech on September 1, 1942. He was born in Argentina, South America, on December 29, 1904. He graduated from the Harrison, New Jersey public schools and then entered the Newark Technical Schoo1, now known as the Newark College of Engineering. In preparing himself fora teaching certificate he studied at the Newark State Teachers College and Rutgers University. At Bloomfield Tech he was intensely interested in the schools' sports program and, among other things served as Athletic Manager for the football team from its inception in September 1945 until its discontinuance in 1952. In addition to his regular daytime assignment, he also taught in the evening program during the full length of his instructorship. Mr. Bambara was well liked and respected not only for his technical knowledge but also for his interest in vocational and general education. He served in various capacities as a leader, representative, officer and president in such professional organizations as the Essex County Vocational and Technical Teachers Association, the Essex County Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association, and the American Vocational Association. He left a deep impression on his students, and on the rest of the teaching staff at Bloomfield Tech. He will be missed for a long, long time.
