As the lights dimmed, the crystal ball glowed mystically with radiant rays of the events about to unfold. Suddenly a vision appeared . . . slowly it took shape. We sat tense and excited, waiting for the powerful voice of the Genie to reveal des- tiny's secrets. We saw a little cottage with a white picket fence surrounding it. Well, what do you know? It's VICKY DREW now Mrs. Bill LaPadula. Taking a look next door, we find none other than JANET PRIMAVERA snapping a picture of her five-year-old son, Eddie Frontin, Jr., for the Professional Photographer's Contest. Let us skip to Broadway. There we find ou: own MARILYN MILLER dancing in the hit show of the year. Her costumes were designed by the now famous team, ANGELA MEOLA and DOLORES MEOLA. The hair style was cre- ated by ANNE GONNELLO, a prominent hai: stylist in New York. As we made our way back- stage, we found Mrs. Anthony DePalma, the former MICKEY WALKER directing the con- struction of the design for the scenery for the next show which will star ALICE PROVEN- CHER in her much publicized Hawaiian Dance, and co-starring with her is the lovely GLORIA CASTELLUCCI, the singing sensation of the vear. But enough of Broadway, let us turn to the practical side of life—marriage. There was the new bride, Mrs. Frank Bochman, the former HELEN DAVIES and her sister-in-law, ELAINE RUSSO, a prominent shop owner, dec- orating Helen's new home. Just across the street was a little bakery shop owned and operated by DIANE FLETCHER and JO-ANN GOOD- WIN. In the kitchen there was a wedding cake, baked by Jo-Ann and designed by Diane, for the wedding reception of JOAN GAFFENY and Stuart Therein. As we left the bakery shop, we saw a flashy red convertible parked by the curb. Out of the car stepped two attractive. blondes, LORRAINE LESCAV AGE and MARCY MERLO, both of whom had just returned from a tour of the United States, where they saw ARLENE SCHUCH'S ranch house in Texas. In thei: travels they met MILDRED D'ALESSIO and MARIE CANACE, who were on their way down to Cuba to visit GLORIA KAYSER, who recently. became Mrs. Wade Cleavenger. Thei: tales of adventure were interrupted by police- woman IRENE VETTER, who came over to invite us to the Policewomen's Benefit Dance. When the travelers left us, we continued on our way. We almost passed by CAROL CON- ROY and DOLORES CHAPMAN, carrying beautifully wrapped packages, which were fo: JOHANNE RUGGIER'S baby shower, which was to be given by GRACE YAGGER and MARY SQUILLARO, both of whom are hap- pily married. They invited us to accompany them to the affair. When we arrived, we were greeted at the door by two voluntary hat check girls, DORIS HOL- GATE and DOLORES FRENCH, successful co-partners in the interior decorating business. As we entered the dining room we admired the beautiful buffet table arranged by DELORIS FREEMAN. The entertainment was supplied by the famous singing trio, MAE JENKINS, CATHERINE MALLARD, and JOAN SMITH. We left the gaiety of the party and traveled down Main Street to observe the functions of the business world. We approached a New York sky- scraper. Upon the bronze plaque we saw “The Essex Advertising Corporation. The clerk di rected us to the eighth floor where we found the executive meeting already in session. The presid- ing manager was DOROTHY D’ALESSIO. The reason for the meeting was the publicity pro- motion of JOAN PARADISE, the new spark to the Modeling Profession. The gowns modeled by Joan were exclusives by JUANI TA COLLINS and DOROTHY GERINO, the celebrated fashion designers. CAROLYN DECKER, the executive in charge of photography, added to the discussion of some fine points of photography. When the meeting adjourned, we went up- stairs to the cafeteria where a dinner, honoring four business partners was being held. The hon- ored guests were BEATRICE GATTI, FRAN- CES GABRIELE, DOROTHY LESNIKOW- SKI and CLARA GRECO. The Genie informed us that a Beauty Culture Association was meeting on the ground floor, and asked us if we would like to attend. When we went into the meeting we were delighted to find that the speaker was ROSEMARIE ZAN- NELLI. The guests of honor were all prominent shop owners. Some of them were our own school- mates, ANNA PESCI, LILYAN RODGERS, MARIE LOMAURO, JOSEPHINE DI CHIARA and CAROLYN EMERICK were a few. They had all won awards for the hai: styles of the year. We left the girls amid congratulations and applause to attend the wedding of MARIE BRASSO to Joe Di Maio. We entered the church to the vocal refrains of ANNA DI BLASI. As the bridal party marched down the aisle we recognized DOLORES DE MAURO as maid of honor. The bridesmaids attending were LAURA DZIADOS, FREIDA ZIEMSKI, DORIS TAYLOR and MARIE RAPHAEL, all of whom are successful in their chosen fields. During the wedding ceremony we heard the cry of a baby. We turned and saw our old school chum EDITH RUSSONIELLO and her hus- band doing their best to quiet the child. After the exchange of marriage vows, we pro- ceeded to the reception. In our wanderings about the hall, we chanced to meet Mr. Mrs. Joe Hoffman and their family of three little boys. Mrs. Hoffman was a far cry from the DOT ROSENFELT we knew in school While conversing on the subject of old times, we inquired about LORRAINE DOMKOS, Dot informed us that Lorraine was married and had two adorable little girls. Glancing around the room we espied a sailor and his girl. As we walked over to the couple, we recognized the girl to be AUDREY NEWEN- HOUSE, 'The sailor is undoubtedly Joe Rullo, who finally came home from Guam to marry Audrey. During our conversation, she mentioned that EDNA MASTERSON is now a nurse. She also told us that LITA CAPOZZI married Lou and is the proud mother of twins. We heard a commotion behind us and we turned just in time to see AUDREY STOUT catch the bridal bouquet. The reception was about over when we de- cided to take our leave. It was almost time to at- tend the Alumni Dinner at our old Alma Mater. Gay chatter and laughter led us to the gvm- nasium where dinner was being served. ANGIE VITAGLIANO came over to greet us and ex- plained that she was the present gym teacher. Among the sea of familiar faces we spotted BETTY RILEY chatting with CATHERINE SENA about the forthcoming marriage of the latter to the former’s brother. We overheard Betty describing the gowns to be worn by the bridal party, which she herself designed. Seated at one end of the table was a group of girls from the dressmaking class of '51, discuss- ing the current trend of fashion. MARIE D’ALESSANDRO, JOSEPHINE MALAN- GA and CHRISTINE MARTORELLI were in favor of it while on the negative side were ELAINE MELHAM, SANDRA PATANIA and DORIS JEWELL. Although they are no longer fashion experts, but just plain housewives, they are still in the know when it comes to fashions. The girls were deep in their conversation when we left to see what fate had provided for our other classmates. our days. 55 As we were seated around the table we heard the excited MARY ANN GRASSO now Mrs. Ralph Figluizzi, congratulating LAU- RETTA BIASE on her forthcoming marriage to Sonny Donnatello. Gathered around the girls were SYLVIA ANASTAS, LUCY ANASTA- SIO. LOUISE GEORGIO, MARGUERITE MESSMER, and HELEN O'DONNELL. Lucy and Marguerite successfully own and op- erate their own beauty shops. voice of After we wished the girls well, we said our good-byes and were soon on our way to the fash- ion show to be held at NANCY DOUGH- ERTY'S estate, As we strolled up the marble stairway we were greeted by soft music which led us to the huge ballroom. The show had al- ready begun. The first group of models were dis- playing beautiful lingerie. JEAN BIANCO was dressed in a becoming white negligee, followed by ROSE GERARDO modeling a lounging en- senmble. Pajamas and nightgowns were also shown, all of which were designed by DO- LORES JANKIN and CAROL POLITO. INGEBORG PIASSEK announced the open- ing of the second act. JEAN SABAT appeared in a three-piece afternoon frock. Several other afternoon casuals were also modeled. A glamorous cocktail dress was worn by LILLIE THOMAS. 'These cottons and taffetas were created and put together by VINCENZA CODELLA and AN- TOINETTE GIRGENTI. Inge, the Mistress of Ceremony, is the secretary to the designers. The strains of a beautiful waltz introduced the evening wear. We were breathless by the mag- nificent entrance of JUNE REYNOLDS in a glorious nile green strapless evening gown. This beautiful creation was done by HELEN COF- FEY and MELBA VLANGOS. At the close of this marvelous array of crea- tions, our hostess, Nancy, announced that all models who appeared in this show were profes- sionals. She also added that refreshments were now being served on the patio. The butler handed us a message that had ar- rived during the show. The content was a special invitation to HELEN DETRICK'S home for cocktails. Her beautiful home was due to her suc- cessful marriage to Ralph Conti. Among the early guests. were DOLORES FERET, ANN MACK, MARY ANN MAL- KO, ALICE FLEMING and IRENE HORO- WITZ. The girls had just come from their place of business where they all hold responsible posi- tions. As Helen was showing us her twins’ room, she explained that it was decorated by JANE SPERA, a distinguished consultant of interior decorating. On the way downstairs, we met MARY COTTONE, the twins’ private nurse. Nursing was Mary's life-long ambition. The vision slowly disappeared, the radiant rays dimmed and our adventure into the future came to an end as the mystic veil of time settled over the Crystal Ball.
