Along the banks of a narrow river flowing resolutely to the great Atlantic, a city was born. The date-1666-over a hundred years before the start of the American Revolution. Guided by o few hopeful colonists, the city began to de- velop. And develop it did, until at present, it has become one of the foremost in the nation. All this it has accom- plished while lying in the shadow of the giant to the east. The buildings on this page represent a city complete in every respect.
