November 15-the third floor resounded with the clash of sword on sword. The Essex Musketeers were at work. Though graduation tolled heavily on last year's varsity, the team ran up a winning streak of thirty-two con- secutive victories. ln a 'IO-8 upset, Ramapo fell in dual competition, in a 'I4-13 squeaker, Lawrenceville folded before the epee squad. Essex fencers qualified for the Under 19 Championships at Connecticut in May and swept the Cetrulo Trophy Tournament. The season's end saw Essex sharing the State Championship with Ramapo. X .3 W1 In this picture sequence, we show several points during a wrestling match and describe what is actually happening in each segment. In the first picture, both wrestlers are in the referee's position ready to begin the match. The tensions of these moments before the test can be clearly seen in the faces of the boys as they await the ref's signal of wrestle. The second picture shows the Essex wrestler attempting to drive his man into the mat. His next objective will be to turn his opponent over on his back and thus be in the advantage- ous position of gaining points from near pins or even a pin, which would end the match. The third picture finds the Essex wrestler accomplishing his task-he drives his adversary on his back and will soon have him in an almost helpless position. The match is nearing its end. In the final picture, our man shakes the hand of his wearied, and now defeated, opponent.
