GREEN UCK Scotland Scotland appeared to be a uniform shade of brownish gray and logically one would expect her people to reflect the dour landscape. But surprisingly . . . and happily . . . the Scotch are a warm and friendly people who greeted us with en- thusiasm. Except for Edinburgh, which was solemn and coldly gray, we found the country to be an impressive contrast of icy winter snow and people who were like people anywhere else in the world. We took ample opportunity to sample the native drink . . . we toured the Highlands where the heather was covered by snow. lt wasn't a long visit, but we learned much about these people to dispel our image of a thick burr, a plaid kilt and a tight fist.
