MEMORIAM RAYMOND F. POTTER 1930-1988 It was on Tuesday, February 23, 1988, that we lost our director of 14 years. Raymond F. Potter was more than just a director, he was one of the Aggie’s best friends. Mr. Potter started at the Aggie in 1956 as a related subjects teacher, football, and basketball coach. In 1965 he moved to the position of education manager. He then became our director, in 1974, a position that he held for 14 years up to his death this year. During the past 4 years at the Aggie, he devoted a lot of time and effort into updating and bringing the Aggie into the 1980’s. Some of the things we may remember most were his efforts to give us a new horse arena and horticulture building. He was also very active in the new county jail site selection issue, always having the Aggie’s best interest at heart. It was stated by a teacher that the Aggie has lost more than just a director, it has also lost a good friend. As I look back over the many times I spent in his office talking about the Aggie, I can’t help but think that the void created by his death will be hard to fill. Ray Potter loved this school. It and all it’s students stood for were very much in the forefront of his mind. Mr. Potter leaves his wife, Antoinette, and 2 sons, Michael and Steven. DENNIS L. WRIGHT STUDENT MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHELBY D. PEARSON TREASURER OF THE ESSEX CHAPTER SADD Every year the yearbook committee asks the director to write a few words for the yearbook. Mr. Potter wrote this to the class of 1988 just a few months before his death.: It is my pleasure to contribute in some small way to the yearbook for the class of 1988. I know that since entering as freshman you have all experienced changes, adjustments, and progress. All of these have allowed you to expand your horizons and work toward your individual goals for the future. I am sure that the education you have received at this school will serve as a firm foundation for your future ac- complishments. I wish you well!! RAYMOND F. POTTER, 21 DIRECTOR
