DEDICATION Al Gates For years, Al Gates, known to us all as a ‘‘Friend of the Aggie, has given his support, both monetarily and physically, to many events and organizations that the school sponsors. His business, Valley Tree Service of Groveland, has consistently advertised and supported the high school’s yearbook and year after year, Mr. Gates generously donates an award to a Senior graduating in Natural Resources. No spring Suburban Living Days, our annual open house, would be complete without Mr. Gates’ monstrous wooden lumberjack on our front lawn and his crew of men demonstrating various saws, safety equipment and the school’s sawmill. This is an attraction that draws crowds to our school year after year. His generosity and interst in our programs could certainly be seen this year when he sent a crane and a crew to assist the Ornamental Horticulture classes to move a flowering dogwood. Once again Mr. Gates volunteered his time and his equipment and gave our students splendid demonstration of large tree transplanting. Al Gates, a graduate of Essex Aggie’s Class of 1957, has certainly demonstrated the phrase, ‘ school spirit.’” We, the Class of 1986, proudly dedicate this yearbook to Al Gates and thank him for his years of service to our school.
