Mansfield, S. Quimby, M. Richard The 1981 soccer season was a challenging one. It was a season of a new beginning. Last year, the team lost over ten people, which left the team in a rebuilding process. Even though it wasn’t a victorious year, our new coach, Gene Demsey, had an incredible amount of patience with the team. All in all, it turned out to be a profitable year, experience wise, for both team and coach. This year Jim Lussier and Dave Ross will be leaving the team. @ 3 Apia Be : poe ie 3 42 CROSS COUNTRY Bottom Row: L to R: S. Sylvester, T. Stazinski, J. Mcllhenney, L. Monteith, Coach Beth Collins. Top Row: L to R: W. Pierce, S. Rogers, H. Dolan, A. Wilson, C. Maslowski. The 1981 cross country season was one of inexperience after the loss of most of the team last year. This left the new team and the new coach to rebuild. This year’s team was constructed mainly of freshmen. The most dedicated runners were Chesley Maslowski and Sue Sylvester, both freshmen. A special congratulations goes to the girls for a win over the Ipswich team. This year Bill Pierce will be leaving the team. os ee tA SS ace ae iab e hg it = ae eel WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Front L-R: C. Under the leadership of Senior Co-captains, Heather Wilson and Mary Arsenault, the young Aggie team proved successful against some more experienced opponents. Also contributing to this year’s success were Senior, Jeanette Blanchette, Sophomores Cindy Ross and Jill Delaney, and Freshman, Chris Powers. The J.V. Team, under the direction of Coach Gail Haley, worked toward building and strengthen- ing the varsity talent for next year. Led by Freshman, Leanne Santos, the Junior Varsity had a 3-4 record. Maslowski, E. 47 Although this year’s Men’s Varsity Basket- ball Team was few in number and small in height, the team gave one hundred percent in every game. Senior captain, Bill Peirce and Junior captain, John Collins led the team throughout its difficult season and Coach Kirkorian was pleased with the lead- ership of both and the enthusiasm and de- termination of the entire team. Next year’s team faces the loss of Seniors, Bill Peirce and Tony DiPietro. Coach Kirkor- ian feels, however, that next year’s Varsity will be more experienced and is looking for- ward to a successful season. He plans to bring up some promising members of the J. V. Team, which was coached this year by Keith Moore. y Seamanship Boating Club ; PEPE ATS ; eal n¢! ea (ble Yearbook Staff 52 Arts Crafts Club Beekeeping Club 53 Natural Resources Club + AS a AY FA . The culmination of an exciting Senior year and four years of work, study, summer projects, and many good times occurred on the evening of April 14th at the graduation ceremonies. Led by Senior Class President, Carol Rochon, the Class of 1982 entered the Alumni Memorial Gym with shouts of high spirit and excitement. After the Invocation by the new FFA President, Lorraine Blowers, Kathy Hincman, the 1982 Class Valedictorian, reminisced with the class and the audience about the last four years. She reminded them of their bumbling Freshman year when everyone was shy and eager to make friends and be accepted. She also reminded them of their dances, candy sales, competitions, judging teams, and a successful year in competition at the 1982 FFA State Convention. It was pleasant to look back, but the excitement lies in the future. Looking forward and accepting the challenges of the future was the theme of the guest speaker, William H. Ryan, Mayor of Haverhill and a Trustee of the Institute. He encouraged the students to look ahead and to use their unique educations to become successful and productive citizens. Many awards and scholarships were awarded during the ceremonies by Director Raymond Potter. He, along with Mayor Ryan and Assistant Dean Brown, also awarded diplomas, symbols of four years of vocational-agricultural education. 74 ee ala tates ieee mnie Se Sea aa THINGS TO REMEMBER Cindy Allen Remembers Mr. White’s Class.
