You, however, have now culminated that process with the successful com- pletion of your high school education and | heart- ily congratulate all of you. The decade ahead promises new and tougher challenges with energy, the economy, and inter- national relations. | am sure, however, that your education here at Essex will provide you with the abilities to meet those challenges. Lots of luck in your future goals. ae), ’ Ce Qtel Wij AAAS Assistant Dean SHUOINAS Bill Ambrefe Jennifer Baker Mike Barton Pete Boucher Scott Bryer Laurel Bucknam Kay Capozzi Charmaine Convery Andrew Cotreau Peter Davis Donna Durland Angela Dexter | Nancy Delfino Joseph Fournier Dave Fraser James Elwell aa6. 78, = ssazpseestiy Robert Freitag Dennis Geldart Walter Fox Dan Girard Craig Getty Dean Germinara ¥.'s Chris Gorman Scott Griffin Kelly Goodwin Jean Hudson Dave Johnson Dawn Haight . Faced with the loss of several out- standing Seniors from last year, the team was made up primarily of underclassmen. Once again the team was full of enthusiasm and team spirit. Coach Zisis, with his European exper- =. ience in soccer, did a superb job shaping the team. ‘hs Tom Blair and John LeBrun, co-captains of the ‘team, contributed greatly to the team’s success. Although LeBrun was injured for part of the sea- son, Coach Zisis expects both players to be stars next year. After this season, the 1980 team has the poten- tial to be a winning one. ok. a | SSE Aly, o T. Kneeling L toR: S. Roger, T. Martinson, M. Smigielski, G. Hall, B. Hojaboom, E. Noll, J. Lussier, R. Under the expertise of Coach Mark Gatti and his integral part in developing the team’s spir- it, each runner worked to his best ability through- out the season. The girl’s team was led by Kay Capozzi, an out- standing runner, and was stongly backed by Lori Thornton and Karen Levesque. Dan Verrington was the pathfinder for the boy’s team and was an inspiration to them all. Next year’s team faces the loss of the following Seniors: Bob Moore, Scott Griffin, Scott Bryer, Warren Whitmore, Kay Capozzi, and Lori Thorn- ton. Standing from L to R: Coach Gatti, S. Bryer, D. The coaching aspect changed considerably when Mr. Raucci became coach of the junior varsity and Mr. Kirkorian be- came the varsity coach. Each is pleased with his new position and they both agree that it should strengthen the teams in the years to come. Co-captains of the varsity, Kevin Moriarty and Dean Germinara, led the team with their spark, energy, and concern for the team. Two juniors, J. LeBr un and T. Blair, played extremely well this year and both should be prominent on next year’s team. Next year’s team faces the loss of the following Seniors: K. Moriarty, D. Germinara, S. Griffin, and S. Bryer. (oat rr Cm (i WOMEN'S VARSITY BASKETBALL Women’s basketball is a fairly new sport at the Aggie, but this season it expanded to form a junior varsity team under the direction of Coach Cheryl Johnson. Along with the expansion came a longer, tighter season and entry into the River Valley League. Through the dedicated coaching of Mark Gatti, the girl’s varsity team thrived on pure enthusiasm. Captains Lisa Rygielski and Lori Thornton played outstanding basketball and contributed greatly to’ the team’s strength. Next year’s team faces the loss of the following Seniors: Dawn Haight, Lori Thornton, and Lisa Ry- gielski. 23 24 WOO rote JUNIOR VARSITY 25 : So =; a Bill Ambrefe 7 Hickory Lane, Beverly Animal Science Jennifer Baker 37 Laurel St., Lynn Ornamental Horticulture - Conservation Club 1-4, Year- book 4 - “Keep Dreamin” - wants to go to college and be happy - remembers Fresh. yr., the Aggie parties, Jr. dance. Amid the splendor of this setting, Seniors and their guests dined on a fine meal, shared memories with their classmates, and danced the night away to the music of The Heist. The tradition of choosing a Prom Queen was re- vived this year. By a vote of the faculty wives, Ruth Smith was chosen as the Queen and Lori Thornton and Donna Leavitt as the Court. A special thanks for this lovely affair and for all the Senior activities must be given to the two class advi- sors, Bob Raucci and Dan Kirkorian. Because of their dedication and guidance, this year and especially this evening will be a cherished memory of the Class of 1980. 67 68 69 Sane Ss gE cp ice: “ARP RIERA AR cain, Wyte tot?
