Yearbook Dedication Ed Lang Natural Resources To The Class Of ’78 Looking back over the last four years, this class has achieved outstanding records of education and school leadership. It is a class which has shown its strong interest in agriculture through its sincere determin- ation. This is one of the largest classes to complete courses of instruction in the var- ious areas of study. A great dispersal is about to take place - some to other insti- tutions for further education, some into employment, and others into the armed Services. Whichever direction each shall take, | wish each of you the greatest success and happiness in the years to come. Assistant Dean Congratulations Class Of ’78 | am sure that in the years ahead you will look back over this book and recall many happy associations with classmates and instructors. To some, this book will re- call the games you won or almost won, to others their duties as class officers, and still to others their successes as members of FFA teams. During the past four years you have had the unique educational opportunity to spend half the year ina classroom situation and the other half on an employment project. This combination should prove invaluable to you in the years to come. Even though you have graduated, you will always be a member of the Essex fam- ily. If any of us can be of help in the future, please be sure to call upon us. | wish each of you success in your cho- sen careers and personal happiness in the years ahead. With the de- termination of Coach Zisis, great team effort, and a lot of spirit, the Rams ended the season undefeated in the Cape Ann Junior Varsity League. The record shows an out- standing, overall Tally of eight wins, one tie, and no losses. John LeBrun, a new forward line- man, contributed a great effort in lead- ing the team from one victory to another. With outstanding goal tend- ing by Randy Bourgeois and support from Capts. Gaudette and Willis, the team was bound from the start to bea winner, Next year's team faces the loss of the following Seniors: Jim Willis, Phil Gaudette, Steve Martin, Hans Mertsch, Dave Sheehan, Debbie ' Godjikian, Randy Bourgeois, and Peter Walters. | BSF ees Ries us Me , e } Front row L to R: R. Faced with the loss of last year's coach and grad- uating Seniors, the team struggled to Stay together during pre-season train- ing. One of the Aggie's newest teach- ers, Jack Splaine, volunteered to coach and began whipping the team into shape. Robin Cole, team captain, along with other members of the team, helped to keep up the spirit of the Rams during this rebuilding season. This year's goal was not just to win, but for all to reach the finish line, no matter how fast or slow they ran. Kay Capozzi, an outstanding sophomore, took a sixth place trophy in the Annual Cape Ann League Meet. This year's graduating Seniors are pictured at the right. Although the team is young, they continually strove to succeed against their more experienced opponents. After this year of growth, Coach Raucci expects to have a cohesive, well-balanced team. Guard Barry Davis, a junior, and his brother, John, a Senior, contributed greatly to the team's defense. Although it was their first year on the team, Seniors Walters, Pickard, and Carr instilled the young team with their spirit and enthusi- asm. With the aid of Coach Johnson, the girls have been work- ing to build and strengthen their team. Even with defeat looming on the scoreboard, the team continued playing its hardest. Their determination and spi- rit never diminished. Everyone wanted to win! Sophomore, Beverly Denault, scored often throughout the season, and Miki McElhinney, with her expert ball hand- ling and outside shot, helped pull the team through many a tough game. How foolish, then, to imitate, How useless to pretend, Since each one of us comes from a mind Whose ideas never end.
