In Appreciation We, the members of the Class of 1970, consider ourselves fortunate to have had you as a teacher, advisor and friend through our high school years. You have accomplished many things during your twelve years of selfless dedica- tion. We feel certain that those graduates who have preceded us are as much in your debt as we are, not only for your untiring efforts from your desk here on campus, but also the hours spent at home and on college campuses everywhere. You have been available for inspiration at any hour, and have provided help to us both as individuals and collectively, in the realization and development of our potential. As far as such a thing is possible, you have made mathematics appear to be within our grasp, and much of what might have been drudgery has been enjoy- able. Thanks to your unceasing efforts the library has become a place in which a few minutes search can be rewarded with a great deal of information. You have always been ready to guide us in this search. Your presence at most of our school functions has been warmly noted and received. Many of us, and particularly those old graduates have you to thank for providing the guidance so necessary to getting us started on the road to academic success. Be assured Mr. Bennett, you will be missed greatly. 18

Serr Cleedd Gryllecy - 7970 Well, ten years have passed since we graduated, and it’s time for our first class reunion. Entering the schools’ parking lot, we see various old classmates, there’s Richard Bennett, who finally gave in to his pet peeve, and is test driving Chevys. There is Ed Aylward beating on Peter Bulkley’s Grand National Winning Volkswagen. By the way, Ed’s a pretty successful veterinarian. Hey, there’s Don Abbott, the ‘old alcoholic truck driver’. Paul Caron is an old buddy of his, traveling the Roadside Diner Circuit. There is Louis Tgettis and Dan Wescott. They had a landscape business, and they hired boys from the Aggie, maybe that’s why it folded. As we talk to our classmates, there really are many success stories to hear. Janice Nystrom owns a chain of florist shops all over New England. She has become pretty rich, as have Jim Stone, the supermarket tycoon, and Ray Bourgeois, the millionaire pencil maker. Bruce Pousard is in the food business too, he is a food inspector for the State of Massachusetts. He couldn’t make it to the reunion, though, he has a bad case of tomaine poisoning. Former classmate, Dave Botts, is a very successful dairy farmer in this area, as is Wendy Walker who raises and trains Quarter Horses. Dave Harvey is a very successful Men’s hair stylist and owns his own salon in Salem. A lot of stars come to Dave’s Salon, as Boston Celtics Star Bob Talbot, and Boston Bruins all-star center iceman, Steve Shepard. There is John Shachook a not so successful landscape laborer, talking to Forest Ecology teacher here at Essex, Paul Drown. Another of our classmates is a teacher here too. Would you believe Ed George is Phys. Ed. instructor? Billy (Who needs school) Thornhill showed up for the reunion and he is talking with Essex Truant Officer Donn Davis, an old friend of ours. We have a big group of Professional Foresters among our classmates. There is rugged Neil Jordan along with Dick Sumner and John Galiano. Jim Kilroy would be here, but he is still lost in the wilderness. Well, well, Steve Jacunski is a federal narcotics agent now, a little different than sweeping floors at Essex, isn’t it Steve? Beside him with their backs turned are our social degenerates, Tom Suckley and Marine Staff Sargent Alan (Destructo) Tirabassi. ABA Basketball Star Curt Dragon is talking with Bob Streck and Dave Perry, both very happy family men. Men’s Olympic Gymnast and Rope Climber Scott Manthorne, couldn’t make it because of the rough training schedule. Leon Pappas, a very successful actor, is here also. He plays the town druck for Gunsmoke, a job that suits him well. Stand up straigh t Pappas! Well anyway a fellow classmate of his can help him, Dana Pappadouplos, has been helping lots of people since he became a millionaire, although we don’t know quite how he did it. Here come a few late comers, Bob Bartlett, who is just as courteous as he has always been, he is a doorman at the Hilton in Boston. There is Bob Bourke, an airplane mechanic, probably looking for Mr. Potter to talk to. Why there is another person we all know and recognize, Tom Wood, the smelt fishing king who took over for Gadabout Gaddis. I know because I did an appearance on the Show as Sports announcer. And last but not least there is our old Yearbook Editor, Ned Holmes, who is in a line of business we thought never would take him. He is a driver for the Rowley Fire Department. Watch out for the other guy, Ned! Well it certainly was great getting to see all our old classmates, I wonder if they will be as well off by the next reunion? I can’t wait to find out. Prophetically, Dana Kallio, class of 1970
