ABOVE: After three months of vacationing, students find it hard to study. LEFT: Debi Smith takes time out between classes to enjoy an lce cream bar. The freshness and excitement of the first week of school was highlighted by the Cougars' opening foot- ball game against Poway. The game was preceded by the encouraging cheers from the student body at the first pep rally of the year. Both varsity and junior var- sity cheerleaders stirred the Cougar fans with spirit as the football team was introduced. A new system of assigning classes by computers almost seemed to reduce students to a number. John Doe, enrolled in English lll, became MO131B04915 en- rolled in F10615. However, after the first week of school, both students and teachers adjusted to the new system and EHS operated efficiently with the added help of data processing. Student Life 21
