Nichols Ma f xfia , The buzzer sounds-time has been called and all ot us baslqetball enthusiasts are sitting on the edge ot our chairs. For there are only twenty seconds lett in the game and the score is tied. But luclc is with us tor we get a tree shot. Oh-hope he makes it-he's got to-hooray-he did-now just stay ahead-buzz-the game is over-we've won, we've won! Maybe all ot our games weren't this exciting but we sure got some thrills at quite a tew ot them. Our Ns really gave us our share ot excitement at the Oceanside game. We were going into the tourth quarter trailing the Pirates by twelve points. When all hope seemed lost, our players suddenly came to lite and won the game 42-39. Our Bees, beaten only by Coronado and Point Loma were the supermen ot E.U.l-l.S. during the basketball season. They were powerful enough to rate second in the Metro League. Good luclc, Bees -continue your winning ways when you become our varsity men.

This year Coach Quade had the entire respon- sibility ot our J. V. squad. During those long after- noon sessions, he molded the J. V. into a vigorous, tast-moving squad ot players. These boys won or lost games with good spirit and sportsmanship. Coach Quade encouraged our J. V.'ers trom the tirst tryout practice 'till the last cheers 'Faded trom the football field. Thanks tor a good job, Coach. 1 . Our J.V.'s got ott to a rar'ing start this year. Under the leadership ot Mr. Quade as coach, Slcipper Dubois and Keith l-lutchins as co-captains, our mighty midgets tought hard tor the Orange and Black. This hard-strilcing, never-say-die team battled the fog as well as players in one game. They tell us we lost that game but we're still wondering because no one really saw what happened. The team gave us more thrills in the Cceanside tray. Escondido came trom behind a two touchdoown lead to down the Pirates, I3-I2. Yes, our Junior Cougars had plenty ot the good old E.LJ.l-l.S. spirit. Even it we didn't have the So. Cal. championship team, we were plenty proud of our J.V.
