His Message Round and round the sun old Mother Earth goes, traveling at the rate ot a thou- sand miles a minute, traveling tive hundred sixty million miles to complete each circuit. We do not lcnow when the tirst round trip was started, but we do lcnow there was a be- ginning. Founded in I894, Escondido High School had ridden out titty ot those round trips at the close ot the school year, IQ43-44. Approximately tive thousand students, two thousand ot whom are graduates, rode gaily along while in attendance at the high school. Thirty-eight school trustees and one hundred sixty-seven teachers served the school in that titty-year merry-go-round period ot time. A beginning is as important as an ending. The launching 'ot a ship is attended with much Pomp and Circumstancef' The Nation celebrates each return ot Independence Day. The entrance ot a student into high school has as much signiticance as the gradu- ation. The founding ot an educational institution is a good measure ot the interest the adults ot a community have in the training ot their young people, and each return ot the beginning day should receive recognition. This issue ot the Gong commemorates the tittieth anniversary ot the tounding ot Escondido l-ligh School.
