The '86 season was a great year for the boys and girls track teams. Both teams won the District 1 and Region l Track Championships. The boys team ran to four place wins, three second place shows, and three third place finishes. The boys place second in the state meet with the help of the State Champion 440 relay team consisting of: Shawn Cu- liver, Emmitt Smith, Greg Thorn- hill, and Marzette Porterfield. We came together and finished strong, thanks to good coaching and team workl, commented Alex Brown, ju- nior. Coach Scott Watson was select- ed as the Pensacola News Journal S Boys Track coach of the year. The girls posted four first place victories, four second place finishes and one third place show during the year. They finished twenty-second in the state meet in Winter Park, Florida. A large part of our fgirls teamj success was due to the teams unity and the dedication of Coach Autry, stated Tracy Parks, junior. The boys and girls participated in meets against: Tate, Woodham, Washington, Panama City Bay, Pen- Ill -gfh HH J ,2- ' MS . . 4 , , B., lg :ff 1 ' f wif aaa ami Track teams win District and Regionals sacola, and Pine Forest. The Junior Varsity baseball team finished the season with a Winning record of 9-6. Some of the victories included Tate, Milton, Gulf Breeze, and a shut-out over Niceville 3-0. The team's success should make each player successful in other en- deavors, such as academ.ics, stated Coach Hank Martin.
