Student Life February Month of Love February World News in Brief Twenty thousand supporters gathered to March in honor of Mar- tin Luther King. Although King has been dead for 19 years, supporters still march for racism rights . . . Leonardo de Vinci's Masterpiece, The Last Supper has been deterio- rating ever since his work was com- pleted in 1497. It will be barred from viewing until restorers finish work on it, probably after 1990 . . . Liberace died of severe anemia com- pounded by heart diseases. He was being tested for the AIDS virus but the autopsy proved that AIDS was not the cause of his death. Liberace was 69 years old Beulah Mae Donald sued the United Klans of America for the slaying of her son Michael Donald, in 1981. Federal jury awarded S7 million in damages to the Donald's . . . 'nav' February was a month of close- ness. Students had many opportuni- ties to show their affection to loved ones. Some sent balloons, sold by the French Club. RS. I love you, You,re Special, and Be Mine were just some ofthe sayings printed on them. Many students gave sweets to their '4Sweetie. EAC X SPC sponsored a cake and cookie sale. There were also grams to be giv- en, flowers to be sent, and even pic- tures taken to capture this special month on film. The annual football banquet, also made this month special. The foot- ball players, the cheerleaders, and even the coaches were recognized. Some even received special awards. Escambia had many players se- lect their colleges, as the scholar- ships were offered this month. Em- mit Smith finally reached a deci- sion, the night before signing. He will be attending the University of Florida. The Gator Varsity basketball team is tied for second with Pine Forest in the District.
