November was the month Escam- bia felt the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. This was exper- ienced in football, track, volleyball, and swimming. The Gators finished the season, 10-1. The only loss going to the Pensacola High Tigers. The track team made it to the Q Cross Country State Meet, Nov. 22, , where they finished 16th out of 16. f 'gWe did great just to make it to N state, stated Coach Hank Martin. Tracy Parks, senior finished 11th out of 107 competitors. Encore put on three plays, Nov. 21- 22, The Storm, Bivala Grandma Rose, and Hercules Night Out. All three plays went well, commented Randy Eades, junior. But Saturday night was a crack-up. Randy was Student Life November was thrill a minute referring to the number of incidents that happened in The Storm, a dra- matic play. When a coat rack was picked up, after being knocked over, it broke into. Randy, himself, slipped during the course of the play. College Day was held in the begin- ning of November, to help seniors plan their future. Both the SAT and ACT were given at PJ C this month. Student Life December was dress up month December World News in Brief Controversy still surrounds the shipment of arms to Iran. After real- izing he had made an error, the White House Press Secretary re- leased a statement from the Presi- dent stating that there had been a third country involved in the secret project with Iran . . . Pablo Escobar Gaviria, one of the richest men in the world, was indicted this month, along with four Medellin tycoons, for the control of up to 80910 of the world's cocaine trade Patrick Duffy returned to Boulder, Montana to mourn his parents Terrence, 66, and Marie, 63, who were shot dead in what appeared to have been a robbery attempt at Duffy 's bar. Two janitors from nearby Helena were charged with homicides. Both were 19 . . . Terry Rouse is suing Geraldo Rivera for an on T.V., life, false ar- rest. Time reports that cocaine had been found in the apartment in which Rouse had been arrested, but was later let go due to lack of evi- dence in linking Rouse to the co- caine found in the apartment Desi Arnez died of lung cancer, he was only 69 years old. He was best noted for his role in I Love Lucy. . . Al Smith was 84 years old. He was a cartoonist and the drawer of Mutt and Jeff which was the longest con- tinual comic strip in the U.S. It ran from 1907-81 . . . December was the month to be all dressed up with someplace to go. The Christmas dance, sponsored by FACXSPC, and the Noel Dance took place. The Gator basketball players had somewhere to go, also. They trav- eled down south for the Thorough- bred Breeder's Cup. They won the first game, but lost the next two. 'Alt was fun, and a good experience. I would like to go next year, com- mented John Thomas, varsity team member. Students got their Christmas pre- sents early, when the class rings came in. SGA gave Christmas presents to the needy people in Pensacola. They sponsored a Food and Money drive. It didn ,t seem like we were going to have much to give, but the last couple of days it started rolling in, remarked Mrs. Vicki Schuler, SGA sponsor. The county Junior Miss Contest continued this month. Angels Hink- ley took fourth runner up. Michelle Ripa was the third runner up in Es- camia County. 5' u '34
