Twenty-e1ght Nominated For Mr. and M1SS Esca:mb1a Every year senior girls and boys are nominated for Miss and Mr. Escambia. It's an honor and a privilege shared by few. I was elated at the fact that my teach- ers would nominate me for such a high honorf' stated Tracy Parks. This year 's nominees for Miss Escambiawere as follows: Rebec- ca Bowen, Lori Brunelle, Lisa Cordray, Tonya Hernandez, Cindy Jones, Tracy Parks, Michelle Ripa, Susan Samoszenko, Mel- lgsa Sanders, Leigh Townse-Rf Eaige White, and Frankie Wil- liams. Smith, Hernandez Chosen Mr., MISS Escamb1a V,-,,,..--' -i4 't 1- -rw. Each year two seniors are hon- ored with the titles of Mr. and Miss Escambia. This year 's ,86-'87 Mr. and Miss Escambia are Emmitt Smith and Tonya Hernandez. At first I wanted Becky my sis- ter, to make it. I felt she deserved it. But now I feel privileged because I know she is proud of me and it is important to have her support, ex- plained Tonya. E.H.S. is a very dis- tinguished school in Florida, and I am excited that Ennnitt and I were chosenf' Tonya has been vice presi- dent of her class, 9-ll, and is presi- dent of Senior Council. She is also a member of student government. She enjoys swimming, singing, going to the beach, and relaxing. I am very surprised and glad I Was chosen, exclaimed Emmitt. HI was hoping that I would win be- cause it is an honor to represent the senior class of '87 as Mr. Escambia. Emmitt is a member of Sans Perine, Para Amigos, the football team, bas- ketball team, and track team.

Memories Treasured by Junior Miss Winners - r V ML L41 ,. -A Each year, senior girls from ES- cambia High compete to be the county finalists for the Junior Miss Pageant. Cindy Doyle, An- gela Hinkley, ipa were chosen to represent Escam- bia in the Escambia County Ju- nior Miss finals. Cindy displayed her musical talents by playing Led Zeppelin ,s song, Stairway to Heaven, on the piano, oboe, and flute. Angela sang Berlin's Take My Breath Away from the hit movie Top Gun, using props and costumes to go along with its theme. Michelle did an energetic dance routine that featured gymnastics to Irene Cara's What a Feelingf' When asked about their learn- ing experiences during the pag- eant, all three girls had only good things to say and fond memories to profess. 'KI grew even closer to the friends I competed with, commented Angela. The girls felt immense pride at being chosen to represent Escam- bia. All I could think about was how much I love Escambia and all the students here and how AWESOME we are, exclaimed Cindy.
