Terri Freeman and Darlene Silveira race by pushing peanuts along the floor with their noses. Events Top The Year Escalon High students had the pleasure of viewing several special events this year, including rallies, Kangaroo Court, special assemblies, and visiting bands. Kangaroo Court was a special rally held in December after TWIRP season to punish the violators of Christmas dance rules. Another of Eski's special visitors was Mr. George Val George, who predicted the future of some of the students and of the football team. 2

Suited-up in Style With bright, new, purple and white uniforms, the band marched in the Modesto Band Review, taking second place out of six in their division. Drum Major John Foster won the third place trophy in the Military Drum Major division. In October, the band marched in the Surf City Band Review in Santa Cruz, placing fourth out of six. Band Director Byron Yerzy was impressed with the performance in Santa Cruz. The competition was really tough ' he said, and they were competing with bands from all over the state ' 4.
