Eski Cougars Face Faculty Foxes The Time? 7:30. The Place? Eski Gym. This was the setting on January 27 when the Frosh-Soph and Varsity Cougars came up against one of the toughest teams of the season: the Escalon Faculty, better known as the Foxes. The Frosh-Soph team played the first half of the game, finishing with 40-62 in the Foxes' favor. The high scorer for the Frosh-Soph team was Ray Vaz. The last half was played by the Varsity Cougars who lost to the faculty with the final score 89-111. High scorer for Varsity was Mark Franceschetti with 12 points and for the Faculty Mr. Mike Backovich with 20. Mr. Steve French and Mr. Jon Pierce were close behind with 19 and 18 respectively. The game proved to be an exciting and trying game for both teams. 6 I 5. Mr. Perry Nelson and Mark Franceschetti are neck and neck for a jump ball. 6. Frosh-Soph Cougars and Faculty Foxes anticipate the fate of the ball. 7. Cubs Hustle In 1978 Season Under adverse conditions, the Frosh-Soph Basketball team fought its way through an exciting season. Finishing the year with a 6-18 record, the Cubs demonstrated consistent improvement in team and individual game skills. Team captain Henry Plott was the Most Valuable Player while Dave Hamilton earned Most Improved Player honors. Coach Backovich stated he was exceptionally pleased with the overall team hustle for the entire season. If the athletes are giving their best, that's all you can ask for.'' 1.
