1B foe ND As the doors widen to reveal our moral fiber, we set the pace for our coming years. As the young Indian brave set out to hunt and to prove himself a man, we are about to reveal our moral fiber. We, like the Indian of long ago, act according to the pattern to which we have become accustomed, Our ideals, ambitions and dreams are but a step forward. The ideals of Indians were very different from ours. They worshipped more than one God, such as the Gods of the Sun and Moon, Their greatest desire was that their children marry a hard-working person instead of marrying only for love. The young Indian boy's greatest ambition was to become a brave, courageous man who would be able to protect his family. A young Indian girl's ambition was to be strong enough to raise and gather food for her children, So our LEGEND OF THE REDSKINS is foretold within. The very days that to us were so unmeaningful are an expression of what is to be in the days, months, and years that lie so near to our footsteps. What is in the realm of our reach is yet unknown but is seen as a dimly-lit candle which increases its flame by every fleeting second. eee lig aay RIED SAIN

The class of nineteen hundred and sixty-three has chosen the Redskin to lead us through the pages of our annual, the HOURGLASS---through its many pleasant memories, We hope that in future years as you thumb through the old and worn pages of our yearbook, the Redskin will lead you back to many happy memories of classmates and events, We, the class of nineteen hundred and sixty-three, with a sense of pride and satisfaction, present to Erwin High School, the HOURGLASS OFELIG3s N Pd De ocr DPR AS EPO GS p : a J : g i
