Os LD P662 er ———— ee se OE 1 RE ae IO dc A OO Pe ee CP; LONEET 1907S Exvinton High School Vora, VA Volume 27 Goward The ‘‘Pioneer’’ is designed to leave our classmates a few reminders of the memorable 1977-78 school year. As we thumb through its pages in the years to come, our thoughts will journey back over that trail of many memories — the trail that will become longer and much more important as we grow older. We, like other young people, have had our ups and downs, but now that we are about to begin a new phase of our education, our happy memories at Ervinton High School become more precious. We hope we have included some memories that you, too will treasure in later years. As you continually leaf through this book, we hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. | would like to take this opportunity to thank the annual staff and its sponsors for their time and effort, and also thank you, the student body and faculty, for your contributions and assistance. Once again, THANK YOU!!! Lynn Stanley Editor in Chief Nedication NV TA. Betty Sheen We, the Senior class of 1978 take great pleasure in dedicating this edition of the PIONEER to Mrs. Betty Skeen. We appreciate her thoughtfulness and understanding in helping us better ourselves by being an excellent teacher as well as a friend in our business courses. We have all come to love and respect her. We know Mrs. Skeen will never lose her charming smile and friendly way. ADMINISTRATION Our Principal “To Maz. Greear Ervinton High School provides an opportunity for the inquisitive mind to seek solutions to many problems which come our way. For five years we have had the opportunity to develop responsibility, self respect, self reliance and a tolerant atti- tude toward our fellow students. We, like other seniors, are not perfect, but we try to overcome our weaknesses and prepare ourselves to take our rightful place in society. Our educational oppor- tunity here provided the key to unlock our future, but the master key that unlocks the door to our educational opportunity is our very kind, considerate and ever alert principal, Mr. Greear. Thank You Mr. Greear for being our principal. Assistant Principal % 3 s ia,” Second in command here at Ervinton High School and one who is ever ready to lend a helping hand, corral a maverick, or patiently give us our forgotten locker number or locker combination is also one not to be forgotten. He has taught many of us Geometry, Algebra, and Advance Algebra. Here again, we have been blessed by having a teacher and friend for five years here at Ervinton High School. Our paths may be far apart as we go forth in this big, wide, confusing world to seek our fortunes, but we will never forget our fine friend and guide, Mr. Farrell Sutherland — We Salute You! This is a tribute to the work and dedication of the young men who made up the '77 squad. Ervinton started to believe in themselves and it paid off in a very respectable season.
