JOHN TOWNSEND Trustee Mr. Townsend's interest in the welfare of the com- munity in which he lived was always such that he wished to see everyone succeed in whatever undertaking he might pursue. His keen judgment of agricultural values caused everyone to place a great degree of confidence in him and he was always faithful to this trust. At the time of his death he was beginning the last of eight years as trustee of his township. Previous to his elec- tion as township trustee he had been township assessor for thirty-four years. These years of public service extended over a very much greater period of time than is usually alloted to one individual. -W. W. L.
