The girls worked hard, and contributed a great deal to the school spirit for the support of the team. Basketball Four seniors, a sophomore, and a Freshman made up the Gold and Blue team of Ervin Township in twenty-two games during the 1941-42 hardwood campaign. They came out on the long end of the score fifteen times and were forced to accept defeat seven times. Eight of these victories and three losses were in the Howard County Conference which gave the Eagles third place behind Greentown and West Middleton. The Eagles were presented with a trophy after winning the New Yearis Tournament at Burlington. Three weeks later the Eagles were presented with the Tourney Basketball for being the runner- up team in the Howard County Tourna- ment at Kokomo. At the end of the season the squad was honored by the parents and teachers at a banquet given in the school Gym- nasium.

Coach Albert Spandau started athletic activities at Ervin by producing a base- ball team that won the first five games on the schedule only to drop the last two. These five victories were enough to insure the Eagles,' of the West-end championship and the right to meet the Beavers of Greentown in the county play-off at Highland Park in Kokomo. Here the Eagles ran into difficulty and were downed 10 to 3. By going through the west-end schedule without a loss the Eagles of the 1941 baseball team upheld the winning streak over West-end teams which now covers ive seasons of play. This record being started in the fall of 1937 by the team that won the county championship for Ervin. ERVIN SCHEDULE OPP.
