Dorothy Jamison Carter Dedication 5

Page 8 text:

Dedication 1988 When Dot Carter first arrived in Due West, little did she realize that she would have such a great effect on so many students over the next twenty years. Beginning in 1967, Dot was introduced to the Erskine family as secretary to the Admissions Office, then headed by Bill Lesesne. Her former boss remarked that “one of her best attributes is her genuine caring for students and their parents.”’ She upholds the Erskine tradition of caring and excellence. After taking time off to raise a family, Dot returned to Erskine to head the Financial Aid Office. Through her expertise and commitment, Dot has enabled students to attend Erskine. The students aren't the only ones to recognize and appreciate Dot’s hard work. Respected in both regional and national financial aid organizations, Dot was elected last year as president of the South Carolina Association of Financial Aid Directors. Dot’s caring for people extends to other areas of her life as well. ‘‘Miss Dot” teaches the two-year-old Sunday School class at the Due West A.R.P. Church. Her pupils as well as her friends love her smile and encouraging words, which she shares freely. Dot is married to Tracy Carter, principal of Dixie High School. The Carters have two children, Shannon and 1; Dot Carter is one of the faces that help Erskine excel. Because of her commitment to Erskine, its ideals and its students, we proudly dedicate the 1988 Arrow to Dorothy Jamison Carter. Dot Carter keeps busy with phone calls from incoming students. Dot Carter talks with senior Nancy Hamilton in the Financial Aid Office. 4 Dedication be A t 7
