Flying High with Tradition Homecoming Weekend began Friday, November 13, 1987, with the fourth annual Fleet-o-Rama. Each class, as well as various campus organizations, gathered on the intramural field to work on floats for the Homecoming Parade. Early in the evening, the cheerleaders hosted a pep rally and bonfire to boost Erskine spirit. The evening ended with a fireworks display, although float building continued into early Saturday morning. Sat urday morning brought no rain, as in years past, and the Homecoming Parade. Alumni, students, and faculty lined Main Street to watch the procession of Homecoming representatives. Taking first place in the float competition was the junior class, followed by the Philo men and women and the freshman class. Halftime activities during the men’s basketball game with Piedmont climaxed the weekend’s festivities. The 1986 Homecoming Queen Cindy Shelton congratulated runners-up Jennifer Ramsey, Elizabeth Rogers and Cynthia Collins, then crowned Donna Hughes the 1987 Homecoming Queen.
