Students Excel in Sports The fall of 1987 was a time of transition for several of the sports teams. The men’s soccer team welcomed Ricky Wright as coach, while Brett Teach assumed coaching duties for the women’s team. Also, the Lady Fleet volleyball team greeted Gid Alston as head coach. Through this time of transition and new faces, the Fleet continued the tradition of producing highly competitive teams. Intramurals gave all students the opportunity to participate in sports. Under the direction of Mike Fogarty, the intramural program took on new excitement in the fall of 1987. The competition between halls promoted hall unity and spirit as well as provided a much needed outlet from studying. R-II runs offense in an intramural game. Erskine battles Clemson in the first home Club Football game. Tracy Newton concentrates on her next serve. 14 Sports
