In addition, an adequate variety of specialized courses, including a seminar, are provided as a proper background for history majors, especially those contemplating pursuit of graduate Work. It is the policy of the department to emphasize quality rather than quantity of offerings. Courses are suitable for students interested in a liberal edu- cation as well as students preparing for graduate school. A major and minor in Psychology are of- fered. This effort leads to career opportunities in such fields as public school, nursery and kinder- garten teaching, personnel work, guidance and counseling, mental health, probation and rehabili- tation, and social work.
