I'l'L0l'6t 5 At Erskine, as at other institutions of higher learning, students face a new stage of their devel- opment, in their new independence, they form a more mature set of moral values. Emphasis at this church-related college is placed on Christian moral- ity, through Bible courses, chapel, and Christian Emphasis Week, students and faculty gain new per- spectives of the Hebrew-Christian beliefs. More important, however, they have the opportunity to convey these thoughts into deeds by participation gif the Honor System and other facets of college e. 2

gbecbcafi on The man to whom the Arrow is dedicated once said, The older you get the more you can appreciate the fact that somebody thinks you can still travel in the company of some of the elitef' In 1962 he was recog- nized by the Alumni of Erskine as the Alumnus of the Year, in 1965 he was initiated into the NAIA Hall of Fame. He contributed to the growth of Erskine through his outstanding record as a student and an alumnus, as a coach, as Director of the Living Endowment, as Di- rector of Human Relations, and last, as Director of Admissions. Because he was the epitome of the Erskine Spirit, the Senior Class wishes to acknowledge that he truly was a member of the elite, not only in athletics and in administration, but also among men. We had hoped to dedicate the 1966 Arrow to Mr. D. G. fDodej Phillips, however because of his untimely death in De- cember, we can dedicate it only to his memory.
