An adequate number of specialized courses, including a seminar, are offered to provide a proper background for stu- dents majoring in history and contemplating pursuit of gradu- ate work. It is the policy of the department to emphasize quality rather than quantity of offerings while maintaining a program balanced to stimulate the inter- est of students in a variety of areas of historical significance.
